What's the value of TSSE to the Navy, DoD and my program?
The program produces officers who have been well educated in systems engineering and development, preparing them for leadership positions in the Navy and equipping them to be key contributors in many areas of Navy program responsibility.
Graduates of the program are well-equipped to play an effective, positive role in communicating with and guiding defense contractors in meeting DOD needs.
Graduates have been given a solid insight into the process of converting developing technologies into effective military systems; they understand the processes of requirements generation and definition.
Officers have had significant experience in working as members of an interdisciplinary, technical team responsible for developing a challenging and broad conceptual total ship design; they understand the process.
Officers who have completed the program can make contributions in all of these areas to your program and to others, including those they ultimately lead.
How should I relate to TSSE?
Because TSSE students do a major ship concept design each year, with guidance by experienced faculty members, why not discuss the possibility of conducting (in a benign academic environment) exploration of a concept of interest to your program?
Visit NPS, speak to and interact with students; provide your insights concerning trends, needed developments; develop young officers to support future Navy needs.
Attend the annual TSSE project presentation every December; meet other Navy and DOD attendees in a stimulating academic environment; exchange innovative ideas.
